South Korea’s two major airlines have asked the government to allow them to raise further fuel surcharges on international routes to offset record high oil prices.

Korean Air, the country’s flagship carrier, and Asiana Airlines said they called on the government this month to raise the upper limit of the fuel surcharge system to pass on rising fuel costs to passengers.
