WPP warns of further weakness

WPP warned on Tuesday that the advertising market deteriorated further in April, as shareholders approved the communications group’s controversial executive pay scheme.

In a trading statement at its annual meeting, WPP, the world’s largest advertising group by revenue, said that sales fell 6.7 per cent in the first four months, excluding the effect of currency fluctuations, acquisitions and disposals.
