Warning over subprime rates

Borrowers with subprime mortgages are likely to see their interest rate jump close to 10 per cent once their cheap short-term deal expires, according to new research.

Subprime borrowers would revert to an average rate of 9.43 per cent, almost double the Bank of England base rate, Moneyfacts.co.uk said yesterday.
