Business as usual for Citi’s Asia-Pacific arm

If you believe the naysayers, it will not be long before Citigroup, the stricken lender rescued by the US government, retreats from international markets to concentrate on its domestic franchise.

Those sceptical of the bank’s future as a global financial services powerhouse cite the recent sale of its Japanese securities business as proof of the bank’s waning commitment to nourish its overseas franchise.
