Not all of Conrad Black's friends have deserted the former media baron in his hour of need.

Several dozen of the great and good in the UK, the US and Canada have attested to Black's kindness, sincerity and humility - among other fine qualities - ahead of his sentencing on fraud and obstruction of justice charges on December 10.
