The sound of American music will ring through the East Pyongyang grand theatre on Tuesday night, when the New York Philharmonic performs a deeply symbolic concert in the North Korean capital.

In a performance unimaginable 18 months ago, when Pyongyang conducted its first nuclear test, US musicians will play the North Korean national anthem and a North Korean audience will listen to “The Star Spangled Banner”.
