Doctors hail EU’s MRI scan move

A last-minute postponement of a European Union directive aimed at curbing exposure to electro-magnetic fields has been welcomed by doctors who said it would have undermined the fight against cancer and other diseases.

The rare move by Brussels, which will be made public on Friday, is a victory for a Europe-wide campaign by radiologists who feared that the physical agents directive would have effectively banned the use of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
