Heritage hunter hit jackpot at first attempt

For Pat Coppel, 36, the genealogy addiction began around five years ago, when he stumbled across a family tree he had compiled for a school project back in the early 1980s.

An unusual name on the tree caught his eye - La Mothe. He knew this branch of the family came from the Isle of Man, and decided to try seeing if he could find any mentions of Manx-based La Mothes on Google.
