Top salaries illustrate gender pay gap

Average annual salaries for men working in the Canary Wharf area of London, home to some of the world's largest financial institutions, have soared by 21.5 per cent to top £100,000, according to official figures.

The figures, covering the 12 months to the end of April, showed that women's salaries in the parliamentary constituency of Poplar and Canning Town, which includes the Canary Wharf office complex, dipped by 7.5 per cent to £43,303.
