Bond insurers' woes priced in

A few months ago, a surprise announcement from Moody's Investors Service that Ambac and MBIA could lose their triple A credit ratings would probably have hit equity and credit markets hard.

This week's move by Moody's, followed yesterday by Standard & Poor's cutting the bond insurers' triple A ratings to double A, was largely ignored by the wider markets.
