Latest data lift sentiment in Asia

Asian stock markets moved modestly higher on Tuesday as central banks across the region sounded a cautious tone and investors digested a welter of economic figures from China.

The Shanghai Composite index snapped a four-day run of losses to finish 0.5 per cent higher at 3,264.73, as July data releases showed a sharp scaling back of credit expansion and a stabilisation in economic activity.
