Justices cast doubt on validity of Guantánamo commissions

Supreme Court justices yesterday questioned the validity of the military commissions that President George W. Bush has established to try prisoners at Guantánamo Bay.

Five of the eight justices took issue with various government arguments in the case of Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a former driver for Osama bin Laden held at Guantánamo Bay who has been charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism.
