Møller-Maersk unit in Indian ports push

APM Terminals, the ports arm of Denmark’s AP Møller-Maersk Group, has taken advantage of a buoyant Indian economy to develop its container and bulk cargo business in the country over the past year in spite of the slowdown in global trade.

The volume of container traffic at APM’s two facilities, Gateway Terminals India in Mumbai and Port Pipavav in neighbouring Gujarat state, has risen 62 per cent year-on-year so far in 2009 while bulk cargo – raw materials such as coal – has increased 60 per cent.
