Spat looms between EU and US over auditing

Brussels has suspended work on reciprocal audit firm inspections with non-EU countries amid signs of a brewing bust-up with the US.

EU internal market commissioner Charlie McCreevy said on Thursday night that more time was needed to ensure that the US in particular was ready to co-operate “fully, based on mutual trust and mutual assistance”, and that he was halting discussions with the EU’s 27 member states in the meantime.
