COMPANIES Jon Moulton’s letter to Alchemy investors announcing his surprise resignation from the private equity firm he founded was the equivalent of pulling the pin out of a grenade and lobbing it over his shoulder as he walked out the door.
The 58-year-old Alchemy boss – a well-known Cassandra of the private equity industry who predicted many of the problems in the credit crunch – has earned a reputation for willingly criticising his own industry’s failings.
