Rentokil results show scale of task ahead

The new chief executive of Rentokil Initial warned that his turnround strategy for the support services company could take up to five years to complete as he unveiled a sharp drop in profits, pushing the shares down more than 6 per cent.

Alan Brown, the former finance director of ICI who joined in April, spelt out the timetable as Rentokil reported that pre-tax profits for the first six months of the year had more than halved.
