A groundbreaking low-cost vaccine for meningitis could be ready for launch within three years, researchers said on Tuesday as they revealed positive clinical trial results for an Indian-made product.

Dr Mark LaForce, director of the Meningitis Vaccine Project, the non-profit group coordinating the project, said key studies would be launched in Africa this summer after trials of a meningitis A vaccine in India demonstrated strong safety and efficacy.
