UK The number of people out of work in Britain has fallen for the first time since the spring of last year, official figures showed on Wednesday – unexpected evidence of labour market resilience in the worst recession in decades.
The Office for National Statistics said 2.469m people were unemployed and seeking a job between June and August, slightly fewer than the 2.47m unemployed between May and July. Employment also rose.
