Blair refuses to water down anti-terror bill

Tony Blair on Wednesday refused to offer further concessions on anti-terror legislation as he clashed with Michael Howard, leader of the Conservative party.

The prime minister refused to accept the opposition’s amendment during his weekly questions and challenged the Tory leader to support the bill as it stood. Mr Blair told parliament that “It is perfectly obvious in this country that we face a terrorist threat of the like we have never faced before.”
