Indonesian banks target 48m low-income earners

Indonesia wants to persuade 48m low-income earners to take their money out from under the mattress and set up a new type of no-fee bank account.

Twenty-two banks, including Bank Mandiri, the country’s largest bank by assets, and Standard Chartered, on Wednesday said they would introduce the accounts, to be called Tabunganku, or My Savings.
