India’s Hindu nationalist party on Wednesday blamed the Congress-led government’s “soft” policies towards minority groups for Tuesday’s bomb blasts in the holy Hindu town of Varanasi.

By Wednesday evening, at least 20 people were reported to have died and 60 injured in apparently co-ordinated bomb attacks across the town in northern India. One explosion hit an ancient Hindu temple.
