Fed guidelines tie bonuses to risk-taking

The Federal Reserve, seeking to clamp down on the excessive risk-taking that fuelled the financial crisis, is to issue broad new guidelines on pay and bonuses at banks as part of an overhaul of compensation -practices.

It aims to ensure that remuneration is based on the principle of pay for risk-adjusted performance - taking into account the risks employees take as well as the returns they generate - and will highlight four ways of doing this.
