BTG beats estimates ahead of merger

BTG, the biotechnology group, reported better-than-expected profits on Wednesday as it prepares for its merger with Protherics – a move that will create the UK’s largest speciality pharmaceutical company.

Protherics’ shareholders voted this week to accept the merger proposal, after near-unanimous approval at BTG’s extraordinary meeting last week. The merger is now expected to complete in early December.
