EasyJet calls for green tax on all flights

EasyJet, the leading low-cost airline, on Tuesday called for air passenger duty to be scrapped and replaced by a tax based on the emissions performance of the type of aircraft used and the distance flown.

All UK aviation should be subject to the new tax, said Andy Harrison, EasyJet’s chief executive, unlike at present where cargo aircraft, private jets and transfer passengers were exempt from paying APD.
