France backs Obama’s foreign policy

France has warmly endorsed Barack Obama’s foreign policy, in comments suggesting Europe will co-operate with the new US administration in rethinking its stance on Iran and Afghanistan.

“I believe that the presidency of Obama will make a difference with Iran. You know that the Iranians wish to talk to the US,” Bernard Kouchner, France’s foreign minister, told journalists in Washington.
