Judges to ease campaign laws

The US Supreme Court appeared ready on Wednesday to curtail the scope of campaign finance laws in ways that could give companies, unions and social interest groups more latitude to influence next year’s election.

Several of the judges clashed over limiting the free-speech rights of groups that spend heavily on elections, including American corporations.
