Since the multilingual TPG Europe head Philippe Costeletos left the Debenhams' board, there is scarcely a familiar face among non-executive directors for investors who bought into the 2006 float.

The writing was on the shop window for the TPG exit of its Debenhams stake after it failed to take part in the June rights issue, and Mr Costeletos left.
