Miliband does not want Brussels job, say backers

David Miliband, the foreign secretary, has rejected high office in Brussels in favour of staying in British politics, according to his supporters in the European parliament.

Mr Miliband had emerged as the frontrunner to be Europe's new foreign policy chief, but last night it appeared he had set his sights instead on succeeding Gordon Brown as Labour leader.
