BP hit by protest vote over Browne's pay package

BP suffered a significant protest vote at its annual meeting yesterday when more than a fifth of votes cast failed to back its executive pay plan.

A number of shareholders had wanted to use Lord Browne's last annual meeting as chief executive as an opportunity to hold himpersonally accountable for the energy company's safety problems.
