Lufthansa chief executive Wolfgang Mayrhuber was meeting Europe’s top competition regulator on Monday night, in an effort to resolve concerns surrounding the German carrier’s proposed takeover of Austrian Airlines.

The meeting followed an invitation to discuss the matter by EU competition commissioner Neelie Kroes late last week.
