Cash-strapped shoppers warm to Iceland

Iceland, the supermarket chain run by would-be Woolworths boss Malcolm Walker, enjoyed its strongest performance in a decade as cash-strapped consumers continued to opt for cheaper groceries.

Statistics from TNS, the market research company, show Iceland’s sales rose 14.4 per cent in the 12 weeks to August 10.
