Best Buy, the largest US consumer electronics retailer, on Tuesday underlined its leadership in the sector as it announced strong quarterly sales and earnings in spite of concerns over US consumer confidence.

The retailer said US revenue had been boosted by sales of higher ticket items, including computer game consoles, notebook computers, flat-screen TVs and satellite navigation devices.
