Macquarie Capital Alliance on Friday signed a deal to buy Yellow Brick Road, the pan-European telephone directories business, from two private equity groups for slightly more than €1.8bn ($2.3bn).

A formal announcement of the terms is expected in the next few days, according to people close to the negotiations.
