Berlin proposes tougher terrorism laws

Germany is proposing 10-year prison sentences for terror suspects found guilty of visiting Islamist training camps as part of a package of tougher security laws.

The draft proposals, presented on Tuesday by Brigitte Zypries, justice minister, come in response to arrests in Germany this month of three alleged Islamist terrorists accused of planning attacks on US sites in the country. The men trained last year in terror camps in Pakistan, according to investigators.
