Siemens cuts outlook despite second-quarter boost

The head of Siemens yesterday trampled on hopes of an economic recovery when Europe’s largest engineering group cut its profit forecast and said the worldwide industrial downturn had in fact accelerated in April.

“We see no signs at all of a trend reversal in any of our businesses. There is no solid evidence indicating that the economy might have hit the ground,” Peter Löscher said.
