A record year for British musicians overseas

British musicians earned record royalties from music exports last year, a testament to the continuing global popularity of British pop groups from Coldplay to The Cure.

PRS for Music, the royalties collection society for songwriters and composers, said British musical talent earned £139.6m ($206.6m) from overseas markets in 2008, up from £121.2m the previous year.
