Rural areas face problems as young people move out

The proportion of young people living in the countryside has fallen steeply, storing up potential problems for an aging rural population, according to a report published today.

The study by the Commission for Rural Communities reveals a rapidly changing population mix in the countryside with a sharply rising immigrant workforce, big disparities in wealth and a growing number of entrepreneurs starting their own business.
