Randgold leads counterbid for Moto

Randgold and AngloGold Ashanti have launched a $488m counterbid for Moto Goldmines, developer of a vast gold deposit in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The move could mark a large investment for the two mining companies in a country whose mineral wealth has often been overshadowed by political risk.
