Stora Enso to lay off 5,000 staff

Stora Enso, Europe’s largest paper company, will lay off 5,000 workers and book a €670m ($881m) impairment charge as the Nordic paper industry steels itself for another difficult year.

Nordic paper companies have been making big capacity cuts over recent years in an effort to boost prices, margins and profitability.
