Power station workers reject offer

Fears of further industrial trouble at power stations and petrochemical sites were raised on Monday when up to 30,000 engineering construction workers rejected a two-year pay and conditions offer.

The fraught issue of job security and use of foreign labour – at the heart of a series of unofficial strikes this year – appeared to lie behind the surprise rejection of the offer, which had been recommended by union shop stewards.
