Pakistan’s central bank to issue Islamic bonds

Pakistan’s central bank is planning to offer the country’s first equivalent of a treasury bill that will comply with the needs of Islamic banks.

The move highlights interest in establishing an important investment source for Islamic banks, whose growth has been spurred by conservative Muslims seeking to comply with the rules of Islamic sharia.
