The Catholic Church has launched a YouTube channel in the hope that raising its profile in cyberspace will rally the faithful to its cause.

Formally presented by the Vatican – which said it has no commercial relationship with YouTube owners Google – the launch of www.youtube/vatican was combined with a message from the pontiff warning the world’s youth against the sometimes pernicious influences of new media.
