John Lewis boosted by stay-at-home Britons

Britons holidaying in the UK this summer have given a welcome boost to John Lewis, allowing the department store chain to record its third consecutive big rise in weekly sales.

The group, considered a bellwether of the British high street, said sales were up 5.6 per cent on last year to £50m, building on rises of 6.3 per cent and 5.3 per cent in the previous two weeks.
