London financial stocks make broad advance

The FTSE 100 resumed its upward path on Wednesday after Tuesday’s pause for breath, with Aviva among the best performers.

The insurer advanced 3.3 per cent to 343p after Deutsche Bank upgraded to “buy” in a sector review, citing several factors including valuation.
