Wall St up on AIG rescue hopes

Hopes that the US authorities might help ailing insurer American International Group lifted Wall Street stocks into positive territory on Tuesday.

The session began in downbeat fashion after Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s, the ratings agencies, downgraded credit ratings on AIG.
