Five days after the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto triggered a violent backlash across Pakistan, her mourners are promising to keep her memory central to the country’s political future.
“Those who killed Benazir Bhutto have simply made her politically immortal,” says Ameena Chaudhary, a housewife, as she lays a floral wreath near the spot in Rawalpindi where Bhutto died last Thursday.
