Housebuilders believe worst may be over

The number of new houses being built has risen to its highest level for more than a year in a sign that housebuilders believe the worst may be over for the industry.

Work was started on 25,000 new properties over the three months to October, 27 per cent more than the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the National House Building Council.
