Pfizer marks shift to more diverse operation

Top executives at Pfizer, the world’s largest pharmaceutical group, on Friday celebrated the first day of its merger with Wyeth by getting up at 2am New York time to talk to employees in Asia.

The teleconference, with more than 3,500 staff, symbolised the shift of the traditionally highly centralised Manhattan-based group towards a more diverse and international operation as it seeks to adapt to growing commercial pressure.
