Elysée to get tough on rioting youths

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, just back from a visit to China, on Wednesday will chair an emergency security meeting at the Elysée palace to try to end days of rioting in a northern suburb of Paris.

The government’s immediate priority was to put a lid on the violence and stop it spreading beyond Villiers-le-Bel and neighbouring districts to other Paris suburbs.
