Japan has lost almost a third of its market share in the global technology industry this decade as the country has ceded ground to lower-cost rivals in Taiwan and Korea, according to a report by brokerage CLSA.
Japan claimed 41 per cent of global tech revenues in 2000, but that share had fallen to 29 per cent by last year. Much of its lost market share was taken by Taiwanese and South Korean companies specialising in contract manufacturing and assembly.
